rear antilock light on

i have 89 ranger with 2.9, after driving for about 5 miles the brake light and the rear antilock light comes on, and stays on until i turn truck off and leave it sit for awhile. then when i leave again the lights arent on but 5 miles into trip they come on again. had icy roads today and seems like the back brakes arent working at all. any ideas? the pedal feels good, and brake fluid level is good. also i havent noticed it using any brake fluid.
