Hi, Josh here,
Just wondering if I could get some pointers on how to shut this off. Upon starting, the "rear antilock" light comes on for only a second, but after about 5 minutes of driving, the light will come on and stay on. I have replaced the rear brakes ( both wheel cylinder, shoes, starwheel adjuster and new spring kits, and new lines frome the center union to each drum), thinking that this would trigger something, but the light is still on????
Any 411 on this would be a big help!!
Thanks:headbang:

the sensor for your rear abs is located on the top of the differential housing. they can somteimes accumulate debris as your diff wears. as a result the sensor can not properly read the ring, and the ligt will intermittently come on. try cleanning the sensor and changing your diff fluid. that will probably be the cheapest place to start.

Ok, I'll check that out

Is there anything that I have to take apart, or dis-mantle, to get to this sensor, or is it in clear view?:headbang:

its in clear view. near the top of your diff if looking from the front. you can follow the wires going to it. I dont remember exactly how it comes out. I think it just unscrews.

If it's anything like an explorer, it will have a bolt you have to take out and then just pull the sensor up.

Yeah there is a bolt that holds it in. Really simple.

I've had that problem before. ABS would kick-in for when its not needed, or just light the ABS light. Replaced the sensor, problem solved. Its only like a $45 sensor.

I had this problem and you have the same engine I do. Under your truck, below the oil filter is part of the abs system and there is a large connector plug that goes into there. It is on the frame rail on the drivers side. My problem was that oil dripping from the filter removal was seeping into the connector and causing the light to come on. I cleaned it up good, seated the plug firmly, and then wrapped the connection in electrical tape and the light hasn't been on since.

I heard disconnecting the battery, which resets the computer works sometimes.
