Hi-

OK I have a 95 2.3l automatic ranger and it gets really bad mileage I mean like the highest I have gotten is 16mpg. I have changed o2 sensors put a k&n filter in factory air box and changed sparkplugs Im going to changed fuel filter to see if that helps. Do ya'll have any ideas??

I would say your biggest problem is the automatic. The 2.3 is by no means a powerful engine and the tranny is robbing power. Are you running stock size tires? What's your gear ratio? Stepping up to a steeper gear ration will help put the power to the ground. I gain in MPG when I went to 4.10's, keeps my truck in its sweet spot while cruising.

Any codes?

Does it run fine? Any abnormal idling, smoking, hiccups etc.

It is stock the tires are stock size also and it runs really good and it also hesiatates when i try to take off once it gets up to speed its fine its just sluggish with bad mileage. Also it has the error code for insufficent egr flow.

does it idle ok? try unplugging the DPFE and see if anything changes.

don't know. Could be the torque converter isn't locking up like its supposed to. but i would try to figure out the code first.

get rid of the k&n, clean your MAF, and inflate tires to at least 35psi..
