well between the 2.8, 2.9, 3.0 and 4.0, i think weve got the 4 bangers out numbered... and since the v8 was never a factory option (why not? i dont know...)

After seeing that Turbo Carb setup on a 5.0 I might look into that...forged pistons in the bottom end for that though...

I just paid 3.29 for gas, The pump shut of on me once and I was getting close to it stopping again. Im ready to buy a 4 banger and park the 4.0 for a little while, I need to get my buggy fixed up!

I paid 3.68 on Thurs, but that was Premium. Regular is still 3.51.

There might be hope for the 4cylinders. I got info from an AutoShow that Ford has a tech called "EcoBoost". In short, its an engine like the Duratech, except with direct fuel injection and turbocharged. A 4-cyl 2.0L can produce up to 275HP, 280ft-lbs.

Gas prices be damned.....Im having a 347 built for my Ranger as we speak(only a week or 2 out from being done). My SD 350 only gets 10mpg(miles per gulp), so it gets to set a lot. My Explorer still does pretty good on mileage considering its up on 35's also.

i'd take that over my 2.9

imagine if they used the same technology on a 5.0

Well, I loved the 2.9L that was in mine, but I'm stuck with a 5.2L in my dakota, and with gas at about $1.10/L I've stopped recording my mileage as Kilometers/Liter its now, Kilometers/Tank. $80 to fill from empty and 200km per tank, I say I'm between "Piss poor mileage" and "bend over and take it like a little bitch" on my fuel consumption. Damn I miss my ranger.
