Ranger's gone

That specific GM chassis is especially bad. An equivalent Explorer has far lesser issues. Things like hubs and other parts like that are junk on every 4x4 out there with auto hubs, so that's a pretty moot point.

still sounds like problems that would let someone stranded to me..

Don't forget the crappy "Spider-Injection" system. Those tubes break down inside the intake manifold and then you are SKEE-RUDE!!! Get to take the whole top end apart to fic it.

I know this Chevy Blazer has been a problem child. Its been in the family since 1996 with us clocking over 150k miles. 4x4 system has been really good, no problems. Electrical, A/C, and suspension has always been the problem. Exploding batteries, fried alternators, leaky A/C compressors, cracked ball joints, worn out bump stops, creeking torison bars, and the list goes on. Things that I have fixed today on it. Re-aimed the headlights and topped-off the A/C. Things that need to be repaired. A/C system, bump stops, and shocks. My Ranger has given me less trouble than any of the GM vehicles in our family.

I orginally attended for this thread to joke around. Thou it is true that my Ranger is having the dents pulled and I get to drive the Blazer.

i was about to curse u when i saw ur driving it temporarly lol

some people forget this is a Ranger enthusiast forum, so any Ranger problem is not considered a problem around here.

Traitor!!!:icon_rofl:

nice new truck, lets see some images =)

Chevy isn't too bad, the older trucks were reliable, needed some upgrades to some Ford parts, but they were firm back in the 60's - mid 80's. Then they got cheap in the 70's and it just got worse and worse...

I wonder if the pothead who helped redesign the Chevy engine is the same one that goes to my scho..... nah.... he is smarter than that... well.... sorta, he drives a Honda.

REMEMBER Don't be against the company, be against the model, the model is what is of the make, and the older Chevy K series was nice.

The 4.3 is a 350 with 2 less Cyl. I hate to say it here but how many chevy 350 are out there on the road? It is a good motor I do not care what anyone says. That SB chevy blue print was around from the 50's till today with the 4.3.

It is a good motor... until you run it hot ONE time. Then, it's over.

In basic design yes. In materials and workmanship, no. And there are plenty of 350's on the road leaking oil out the rear main too. If you put an engine in everything you will have a few out there I suppose.

iv heard they say that about the ford 3.8, that its a 5.0 with 2 cyl lopped off. but the 3.8 is junk, 5.0 isnt. a 350 is a hell of a lot better than a 4.3. different injection system aswell.

Ranger Problems... what ever do you mean?? I never had ranger problems HA... never mind the fact that I no longer have mine. No but all kidding aside no matter what car you own all are going to have problem just some more than others, and i know from experince between my family and friends i've worked on probly a dozen of more GM products and no matter how many times I replace something there always something else wrong my G/F cavalier was a black hole the list was endless with the car you could never make a dent when it came to fixing it. thats why we traded for our car we now share the '02 focus and beside rear coils the car is great!! Its nice to be able to leave town and know we are going to make there and back.

Update:

Blazer's gone too!! Well, sort of. Basicly, my dad went on vacation to New York and took his Buick Regal. So my mom needs her Blazer back which leaves me with no vehicle. So now I get to drive my Kawasaki KLX250s motorcycle everywhere I need to go. I hope it just doesn't rain. On the bright side, the Ranger is "almost" done. They body shop has pulled every dimple dent, including the rock dent on the roof when I bought the Ranger. They did a very execelent job of hail dent removing. Except for one thing, they left the biggest hail dent in the driver's door. It is like, come on, how the hell did your guys miss it. They pulled dents from the hood, roof, pass door, pass fender, driver's fender and cab, but left 1x big dent in the driver's door. So now I am waiting for them to get insurance justification to do the work. And just to let you fellows know, total cost is over $2000.

And another side note, when I fixed my A/C in the Ranger, I put in severe weather parts. So my Ranger has the coldest A/C in the hot weather. Well, I don't have the Ranger now on the hottest of days (100*F days). The Blazer's A/C sucks and is going out. And the motorcycle doesn't even have A/C (the blowing wind doesn't count, it's like a humid air hair dryer).

Are you one of those guys that wears full leathers and a full face helmet. my Fiance always wounders why someone would dress like that in the hot weather, and I tell her they'd rather protect them self from a wreck then worrie about sweating ther ass off.

Too poor to afford full leather. But I am required to wear a full suit of clothing when riding on a military base. So its a full helmet, long sleeve shirt, pants, over the ankle boots, saftey goggles, and gloves. Also a safety reflective vest when riding at night (which is when I go to work). It doesn't matter what you wear when the humidity and temps are high. Winter time is the best time when I like to ride. Some people think I'm nuts for riding in 10*F weather. But it is easier to dress up in the winter then to dress down for the summer.
