Ranger vs. F100

Thanks for all the advise! Ranger adequate for my towing needs. Good thoughts on getting proven vehicle rather than new model year. If rumors true that F100 will be bigger, don't want it...I like small trucks (toyota screwed up big time IMO when they enlarged the Tacoma).

One last question...are they comfortable on a long drive, or do they beat the sh*t out of you?

I drive mine 200 miles one way to see friends with no problem. Kind of depends on the load range you get but never had a problem with any of mine. Love having the ext cab for the extra storage.
Dave

i am closing in on a million in the same cab

and most of the frame:D

with fresh sets its comfortable....seats dont last long though.

Can someone please get me what people are smoking to think in any way there's gonna be anything in your driveway if you live in North America (US, Canada and Mexico) that will be called F100, Ranger or whatever? The new (90% scale) Ranger is for the rest of the world not us. Ford is telling us to buy an F150, Transit Connect or Fiesta. The new Ranger will not pass the US safety tests. 90% of them are right hand drive.

Go to pickuptrucks.con, jalopnick.com or autoblog.com and let me know where you are getting this info?

I hate sounding mean but really people!

it looks this way. but seems the taurus was dead too:dunno:

i hope to see kuzak this year dia...

200,000 Miles on my seats. My Saturn makes my back kinda hurt on long trips, I do prefer the Ranger.

Shocks for whatever reason seem to make a big difference on these trucks.

If you need a small truck, then Ford Ranger is a nice choice. Ford Ranger parts such as powerful engine, larger crew cab body style and modern refinement level will help you a lot in your day to day activities.

What?

Ranger's have had the same engines since the early 00's, no crew cab option, and interior last refreshed in '96. Are you refering to the F-100?

Yeah, nobody liked the redesigned car that replaced before and after they put on Taurus badges and stuffed a bigger engine in it. The redesigned it again and is selling like hotcakes. I bet it would have been same story even if they left it a 500.

I read that this morning on Autoblog…The whole reason I'm shopping for a Ranger is because I want a small truck! (and I don't want a Taco). No, I'm not going to "spend a little more to get the bigger, more capable truck" It doesn't fit in my garage nearly as well as a truck that's only ~3" longer than my Impala!

Just when Ford was on a roll with great new products too…

They haven't really released anything solid one way or the other, but the rumor mill has been laying on the F-100 theme pretty thick.

drove mine from tampa bay up to northern new york state in pretty good comfort. even drove most the way back on only 5 cylinders. you just can't kill these trucks.

It's actually a pretty nice vehicle to put miles on. Last year I drove it to Oakland, CA (About 1650 miles each way) and it was plenty comfortable, and I appreciated the extra torque while crossing back into Nevada (I took I80). This summer I drove my wife's Toyota Avalon to Delaware (Almost 1800 miles) and I didn't feel that it was as comfortable (wasn't uncomfortable).

I've read the same thing. It's just tough to swallow. The F-150 is bigger than I want or need and as far as I know the manual transmission is only available in the stripper V6 (this makes it a product I don't want, offer the 5.4L with extended cab with a 5 or 6 speed manual and it may be my next truck).

The 4.2 and manual tranny have been dead for a couple years. The 4.2 was in a round about way replaced with the 2v 4.6, the 3v 4.6 was thrown in the middle engine and the 5.4 stayed on top. They are getting a clean slate this year, all the old engines are going away.

They killed the manual in the Super Duty, so I doubt they will bring it back for the F-150.

I guess it looks like 2010 is the last model year truck Ford will be able to sell to me. Not that I want another truck, but that leaves Toyota Tacoma (by itself), as a replacement. I don't really want a Frontier, and wouldn't ever consider buying a Colorodo. The only full size truck left you can a manual with is Ram? Ford doesn't even offer any cars I want, what are they doing?
