so i under stand how to do everything in this swap except for one thing im foggy on so heres my goals

1-it needs to be 5 speed
2-needs to fit the stock hydraualic clutch in my 92 ranger

Problems
1-i want something semi cheap that will bolt up easy
2-i need to figure out if a hydraulic clutch can be hooked up to a t5 mustang tranny with a cable style bell housing

I NEED ANSWERS haha would be appriciated

You need an M5ODR2 from an 97+ 4.2l f150...

alright im also considering an AOD on it that might be a little less painless ehh?

is 97 the only year that will work??? i found a 98 will it work

97+...97-03ish will work. AOD also requires a shift detent cable (aka kickdown cable)...

technically any R2 will work. Just the 97-up has the best shifter position. If you are looking for performance in all honesty you will get better performance and faster shifts from a decent automatic with a shift kit in it over any of the truck 4 or 5 speeds. They aren't for performance and just don't shift as fast a sporty 5 speed. The AOD is a good choice, a later model is better than earlier. You do need to be attentive the throttle valve cable (commonlly confused with a kickdown) it needs to be there and adjusted correctly or you will fry it. A C4 per say has a kickdown you can run without it, the AOD has a TV cable you need to have it.

To answer your first question, it is dead simple to run an external hydraulic clutch with a Mustang T5.

The only ways to run 4x4 with a T5 is to search for a near extinct adapter which will cost you or run a divorced t-case.

why not use a firewall adjuster with the T5 cable and just fab up a bracket for the clutch pedal ?
