Hello,

I have a 94 Ranger with 5 speed transmission that I purchased two weeks ago. the previous owner put a used transmission in just before we purchased it. I didn't see any leaks under the transmission when we purchased it, but now I see a small steady drip that is dripping from where the tail piece bolt to the transmission. I checked the rail plugs and took a picture of them and they seem to be fine. The top of the transmission is dry. Is this the gasket between the transmission and tail piece leaking or is there something else I need to look for?

Thanks

Sounds like the extension gasket is leaking, you'll have to disconnect the driveshaft, then remove the crossmember and trans mount, then remove the extension housing to replace that gasket. If thats where its leaking, not much else you can do about it (except for topping it off all the time).

The tailpiece has no gasket.

The tailpiece is sealed to the main transmission case with RTV.
