What is the difference between a 1987 Ranger STX 4x4 and a 1987 Ranger 4x4? I am looking to lift my Ranger STX and most of the lifts that i am looking at say that they do not fit the STX, so i was wondering if it was just a matter of custom making brackets or what would have to be done in order to fit a lift for a normal ranger under my STX?

A regular lift will work for you, but you must subtract 2'' from the lift to find your lift.

The STX is 2'' up already. A 4'' lift will only put you up 2'' more. A 6'' will only put you up 4'' more. Simple.

FYI, The SkyJacker Class II system, with arms and rear springs, is your best bet.
Stay away from the cheap lift kits, most have plates to drop the pivots, instead of dropped pivot brackets, the cheap ones punch holes in the front diff housing.

Not all STXs have the higher suspension... Check whether your truck has riveted-in spacers between the frame and the radius arm crossmember. If spacers are present, you have the STX Highrider suspension.
