I am having a problem with my ranger that when you start it up it will run fine for about a minute then it will sometimes stall. when it does it makes a weird sucking noise. it doesnt stall every time sometimes the rpms will just fall but it will catch itself. if anybody knows what might be wrong could you please tell me. thanks.

Does this do this just after start up?? or after it has been driven/running for some time...after it is up to full operating temp?

You may want to remove and clean the AIC...spray with carb cleaner let dry...repeat if necessary...reinstall. Located on the passagener side of the upper intake, about mid way.

i dont know if it does it after it has been driving because usually it will stall and you wont be able to start it for a few minutes and this just started happening. but i will try cleaning the aic and see if it helps.

Another thing you might check out is simply a bad connection somewhere..

With it running, try to shut the hood, doors, etc. to see if it dies out for a sec.

I had this same problem, ran.... then would just die out of nowhere even when it was cold. Ended up to be a corroded connection at my coil that was working intermittently. The computer ground from the battery is frequently overlooked - just something to check.

You might take a closer look at the engine coolant temperature sensor on passenger side of the lower intake manifold. There is a temperature vs. resistence chart that will aid in testing it, but I currently do not have a link to it. These will go bad and sometimes will cause the engine to run too rich. Will sometimes cause the engine to flood out and cause a no start.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge to attach to the fuel rail to see if the fuel pressure is dropping off or if there's just too much (eg. bad FPR)?

Any check engine lights present?
