I have a 2000 2wd ranger with coil suspension. My shocks need to be replaced, however the part called for at my local auto parts stores call for a 13 3/4" extended length and a 2 1/2" bolt pattern. The shock that is currently on my truck is a 15" extended length and a 2 7/8" bolt pattern. The # PO147B Motorcraft is stamped on my current shock which no one can find or cross reference. Has anyone out there had this problem? If so what did you do to solve it.

The auto parts store probably tried to give you the shocks for a torsion bar suspension.

Go to a different parts store?

You don't just blindly order parts off rockauto?

Only thing I can think of is someone put the wrong shocks on at some point before.

The only thing I see, is for some reason ford specs a different shock for regular cab and super cab trucks. And it specs a build date. You may need to ask for an earlier or later year. Ford does have a habit of changing parts in the middle of a build year.

The big problem is finding a 15" extended length and the 2 7/8" bolt pattern. The only thing I found was for a 2500 chevy without the dust cap. Where did you get the screen shot from?

Google Ford parts giant. That's where I got the screenshot. They sell oem ford parts and list all the ford part numbers as you can see. Check the build date on your door tag and go from there.

on my 2005 those did bolt on, but were too long

I had to shout COIL SPRINGS for a few minutes before the correct shocks appeared.

Another place to check is Tasca Parts.

I farted
