ranger runs hot

i have an 88 ranger 2.9 that almost always runs hot (240*) it has no coolant leaks or no weep hole leaks it has a brand new thermostat 160* high flow, new rad. cap, coolant and a 10 e fan and the mechanical fan as well
check the compress all 6 at 160psi

i need some help what should i do

well, for starters make sure your cooling fan is working properly and your radiator isn't clogged (check for cool spots) Make sure that the thermostat is facing the right way (pill facing in) Make sure that the gauge is functioning correctly as well. A 160* thermostat is too cold and the engine is going to run like crap and get horrible mileage as well as shortening the lifespan of the oil because of fuel contamination. a 180 is as low as I would go even though I run a 195* thermostat and have no issues with overheating. On 90*+ tempurature days the engine will sit at about 200* normal driving.

yeah i know the 160* is to cold but i just wanted to see if the high flow would help and it is installed correctly and as far as the fan it is a new clutch like 500 miles new but i have not checked for cool spots thanks for the advice ill let you know how that goes

yep the radiator is clogged the hole bottom half of one side is cold thanks for the help alway had a feeling it could be that just didnt know how to tell for sure
