i've been watching the thing rust away for too long.it'll be nice to get the blasting and paint done on the frame.even better to get it to make some noise.

Yup! Cannot wait tuis thing is awsome I was planning a trip from Ontario to BC next year and if this thing is done it might be worth that extra little drive

close...prince rupert's about 21 hours north of vancouver.that's where you get on the ferry for the 7 hour crossing of hecate strait.then it's about another hour and a half up the island to where i am.

Yep....Monster Isle is definitely off the beaten path....lol!
Good to see you back on Doc...........you were missed.

wow, i got the 21 hours from maps.google.ca, which gave me a route that takes you to horseshoe bay, to van island, then up to the north end of van island, back into the mainland, and north to the south end of your island... i think it was 21:22 total time including ferries in this route, but 3 ferries is EXPENSIVE!!! i'd almost rather the extra 7 hours to save the 250$ on 2 ferry trips...

why? because the person asking is too dumb to understand a genius at work, and yes i do mean that Tom, you are a genius! you are one of my favorite members of this forum, and by far, my favorite builder on any forum! i've got your builds linked on my toyota forum (i wheel with them, i don't own) and even they think you're work is incredible!

this is actually the route i took when i moved to the island...and it was expensive.
the difference in ferry costs was actually over $1000 for us,but it saved over 1000km of road driving with heavilly overloaded vehicles.as it was,i had to do a roadside transmission rebuild on the c-6 in the f 250 pulling the trailer in parksville, then replace a hub on the car trailer just north of cambell river.
probably wouldn't have made it if we had to drive to rupert.

thanks,man:icon_cheers:

[edit]oh,and those on the thread who were concerned with the pic on the rock,it's out on the beach.you drive from the sand road that goes to the beach edge, across some sand, then park on the rock.

when the tide comes back in,the rock is underwater and the tire tracks get washed away.[/edit]

ok,let's see if we can get this show on the road....

refit001-4.jpg

first it's all about dragging the thing out of it's hole at the side of the driveway.note my favorite tow rig getting another workout for this.

refit004-2.jpg

the first thing to do was pull the front clip off,and get the interior stripped out.i also disconnected the brake lines and other such sundries, but left the steering and body bolts in till i get it in the shed.

refit003-1.jpg

seems like as good a time as any to show off the painting i did of my favorite place in the whole wide world on the hood.despite whatever else happens with the paint, this stays.

refit005-2.jpg

after getting it around the corner,i had to go from pulling to pushing to get it in the shed.i found a hi-lift fits nicely in the reciever to use as a push bar.

refit006-1.jpg

and there it is in the shed.

time to unbolt the cab and steering and see if i can rig this thing to come off.
