Ranger Problem

i have a 1993 Ford ranger 4.0 V6 manuel Truck and im haveing problems with it and need some help..Heres the problem Its makes like a loud fluttering sound and kinda biggish sound when in low Rpms, it doesnt do it at idle but when i rev it up it does it and if i stomp on the gas or slow cruise it does it but if i redline it it usually runs fine and takes off quick..Any help??

yah its the exhaust heat shield or the cat heat shield thats what went the times i had that problem

Where exactly is the exhaust heat shield and anyone have a picture? and just a heat shield would make the entire truck run like crap?

sounds like your trans is in too high of a gear, i know if i dog my engine in gear and then stomp on it it has no take off power and makes a grumbling noise until i stop giving it gas or until i down shift.

the heat shields are right above the muffler and above the cat. and if its just the sound that should be it. if there is loss of power or something then i dont know what it would be. but i have had that sound going on, and all it was only the heat shields rusting off

Yeah it defiantly has a loss of power the sound is coming from the exhaust like ForOffRoadDriving said like the loud grumbling sound but i got a manuel trans how can it be in to high of a gear??
