Hi everyone, i just did the 5.0l 302 V8 swap in my 2001 ranger 2wd . i currently have just rancho shocks, (no lifting blocks)and 33" tires. im planning on getting Dixon brothers cantilever and going up to 35" tires. at this time while have the rear end started im also going to be doing a new axle(9"). this is my were im in a predicament.

i would like to do disc brakes on a ford 9" but i dont think its direct place in without having to add a master cylinder to accommodated the hydraulic brakes?

i would be happy with drums, but can i have full floating drums?

should i have a 9" axle made? or buy an old one from a picknpull or respectable auto wrecker?

Nines are getting hard to find.
If you have money to blow. Currie Enterprises is your best bet for an axle thats ready built to your needs.
The stock master cylinder will most likely work, it did with my 9" with discs i just got rid of, but a 97+ explorer master will work best since they have 4 wheel discs from the factory. An adjustable proportioning valve will help too.

So ruffly if i got an axle with a disc brake, how much work is it to change the master cylinder and do i need to change anything else ?

i have a ford 9'' if your still looking for one
