i think ford doesnt like the ranger anymore. if they want to sell something they kno how to sell it. for instance the mustang, my dad bought a 2005 mustang gt fully loaded for 26k brand new. thats pretty cheap. if ford would take this approach to the ranger they could make a great reliable truck, a truck that is cost efficient, and a truck that would out sell every other mini on the market. im not saying it needs to be 10k because then they would be cheap in all sense of the word, but i kno they are extremely over priced rite now.

The latest I heard was that 09 would be the last year followed by a major update to the Ranger renamed F-100.

08 Sport 4x4 4.0l 4.10 gears limited slip. gonna lift it and throw some 33's on there in jan or feb.

Have you priced out a new ranger on ford's site lately? I priced out a 4.0 4x4 standard cab short box 5-speed XLT with every option available, including the payload package which gives it the 8.8 and 10" drums, all for 20K.


A fully loaded colorado comes in at over 31K

A loaded TRD Tacoma is just over 33K

A Nismo Frontier goes for about 33k fully loaded.

A FX4 fully loaded is in the 27K range. Still cheaper than comperable trucks from other companies.

Seems to me like the ranger is still the cheapest option.

Unless your actual Ranger died, they quit making the S-10 a couple years ago, like about 2002.

I really hope they keep it going.....I want another new one in a couple of years.

I bought my Ranger just over a year ago now and at that time no other manufacture could touch the bang for the buck (Tacoma TRD, Frontier Nissmo both ~6g more plus both couldn't even come close to the 0.9% financing).....didn't look into the Colorado as I think it looks butt ugly.....

If I HAD to buy a new vehicle it would likely be a Ranger. There's not much else out there I even like somewhat. I never thought I'd see the day where most new 1/2 tons or "small" trucks annoy me.
