Can anyone tell me what span of years the ranger was available in a standard cab, 4x4, manual transmission, 4.0L engine combination? Thanks in advance!

It depends on which 4.0 engine you are talking about, ohv or sohc (introduced in 01).
But, the 4.0 was introduced in 1990 and with the configuration you speak of was available until 2008, although it was quite rare in later years. In 2009 it was discontinued, you had to get a Supercab to get the 4.0.
I've found msn autos to actually be a pretty good guide for configurations and options on vehicles:

EDIT: Apparently, that configuration was not available in 2001-2004.
