Ok guys, my 1993 Ranger 4.0 A4LD has let me down. I started it and she started fine, poped it into reverse and it moved about 5 inched then she stalled. Try to start again and she won't crank. I don't even get a click from the starter when I turn the key to start.

any help would be great, I went wheeling on Saturday and got stuck in a light ice puddle but she's been fine since then until today.

It's 15F here btw so I think maybe the starter is frozen but she started just before this....

do your headlights work?

happened to me a couple days ago,, turns out the battery lug came a bit loose. try leaving on your headlights and wiggling around the battery terminals till the lights come on then you know shes getting power, if still no crank cross out the starter solenoid on the inner fender, that could tell you if its the ignition switch. if that dont work its either the starter wire or the starter itself or a bad ground somewhere

Not to sound stupid but when you tried to restart did you shift back to park or neutral?>

Have you checked the trigger wire? If the ignition on signal gets killed, the engine dies and you can't get it to start again. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen it.

did you hit the starter with something big and heavy? :) that works sometimes if you have a bad spot in your starter. but its only a temp fix

Starter was frozen...literally with water. Next day was 34F and she started right up...lol
