Ranger/Mazda tranny swap

I am doing a SHO swap and I am looking for a reliable tranny. I know that this has been done with the T-5 aerostar bellhousing, however with the aerostars becoming harder to find I am looking for other options. I have been told that the 3.0 trannys have the same bellhousing as the SHO. My question is how much horsepower/torque will the M5OD-R1 handle. This is going to be a hell on wheels daily driver and want decent reliablity.

Your M5OD-R1 has the same transmission internals as the transmission used behind the 3.0L V6 (~150 HP), so it is more than up to the demands of the stock 2.5L. It will not handle 300 HP, period. Ford uses the heavier duty M5OD-R1HD for the 200HP 4.0L SOHC and they would not if it wasn't necessary.
