Hi y’all!
i purchased my first Ranger 4 years ago … i had a broken knee and i wanted a Ranger to lower the mileage i was putting on my f250. 2002, white i4 5 speed manual 2wd. the truck had been abused and neglected. Paid $1200. Spent $7k having the suspension rebuilt, nice nav/stereo installed and did some body work myself. It’s still just a “beater” but it’s been the workhorse of the fleet for the past year as i have returned to technical college (25 mile one-way commute … getting 26 mpg) and I’m mid-project on the second Ranger.
2011, dark, gun-metal-gray v6, 5 speed manual 4x4. Beautiful truck. Been spending money on it to make the ultimate adventure Ranger. Drove up to Kentucky to overpay at a dealership for it before prices really spiked last year. Dealer sprayed undercoating pretty well … started flaking off this summer where the rust just wouldn’t quit. finally resolved to treat the rust: pulled the bed off, scraped the flakes and put rust converter on the entire frame; painted over that, put “liquid film” on top of that. took about a month. Currently have the headliner out and am building shelves for where the visors go for CB/shortwave, dashcam & light switches (probably going to end up with about 14 of them).
Plan to start a thread or participate in some discussions. Watched the 2022 TRS recap and would love to get out to an event sometime when the ‘11 is ready to adventure! Cheers and Ranger love!
