ranger is leaking every where?

ok so i have a 4.0 pushrod and my crankshaft seal decided to start leaking 2 days ago and now she is spewing a dolor sized amount. also while i was down there i relized the oil pan is covered in sludge and there is oil all around where the motor connects to the trans and the trans has fluid all over it to. so my question is what should i do? should i drive it till it dies? should i replace allot of seals or should i replace the whole motor? just what should i do? and what all could be leaking?


also there is a chain noise whenever i accelerate is that my timing chain going out? and if it helps any there is a loud tick once in while when in in reverse or drive espicaly when im at a complete stop

yeah i have the time money is more the issue. and i know replace the crank seal and the oil pan gasket but what other seals are there?
 
BUT!! The first thing to do is swap out the PCV.. If that thing isn't working like it should the pressure in the engine PUSHES the oil out the rear main seal. This is quite common. The pcv should be changed every chance you get in an older engine.

yeah im gonna change the pvc after i seafoam it and that will be the day i drop the oil pan and probaly replace all of the seals
 
snug the pan bolts and valve cover bolts, seafoam or ATF about a cup Of ATF in the engine will clean the oil system also just run long enough to get warm. Drain it and put a motorcraft filter in. PCV valves are cheap I change it along with the plugs for prevenative maintenance. If you pull the pan spend the bucks and get a high volume oil pump and I have never had a oil leak with permatex #2 silicone RTV and oil dont mix
