Alright, i've got a 93 4wd splash that has never had a hitch on it(except for the crappy one that bolts to your bumper which does nothing but bow your bumper all to hell when u get enough weight on it). I'm going to goto a junkyard monday morning and look for a hitch off of a ranger(they have TONS of rangers in the yard ranging from 80s models clear up to almost brand new 08's and such. I was wondering if i needed to specifically look for a 93-97 ranger hitch, or would any of the newer hitches work? i know i can use a 94-95 Reese hitch off of a dodge ram(did this with one off my dads old 94, just had to flip the brackets around and they worked on my 01 ranger i used to have). just wanting to know if one from a newer one would work in case i couldnt find a gen3 with a hitch on it.

Thanks,

i would think that pretty much any hitch from a 93 up should fit no problem. I got a hitch for my 03 from a 2000 and a hitch from a 98 to go on my uncle's 01. I think the frame holes are pretty much the same. If you can just hold the hitch under your truck and see if the holes line up while at the salvage yard.

well,i snagged one off of a 98-00 body style, got home and held it up to my ranger and found that my tailpipes are in the way :( So if im going to use the hitch i need to cut my tailpipes off to bolt it on. I've got 2" dual exhaust with 3 1/2 inch tips, the htich hits my tips and wont go up close to the frame so i dunno what im gonna do, i like the way the truck sounds. Contemplating cutting the hangers and trying to bolt the hitch up then just put new hangers on the tailpipes.

i put a hitch from a 2006 on my 93. i had to drill out the holes in the frame to match. it looks like a really strong hitch, it bolts up in two separate axis.
