Hello. New to the forum.
So here's the scoop. Truck body is a 99 ranger came with a 4.0l motor.
Prior to purchase original owner had the motor replaced with what I was told a 4.0l motor. Tearing that motor down im now at the heads and cannot find any of the standard head cast numbers. Other then cif10. And in another place 10 and 12.
Attempting to id the block and cant for the life of me find what would be a block number that correlate to a 4.0l. Any help would be appreciated.

If it bolted to the stock motor mounts and transmission and is assembled without a distributor it's very likely to be a 4L, the only engines with that bellhousing pattern are the 2.8L, 2.9L and both of the 4L's, that's obviously a pushrod engine from the pictures so that eliminates the OHC 4L, both the 2.8L and 2.9L had distributors and I don't think the 4L intake bolts on... there were different year of heads that apparently had different combustion chambers though and I'm not sure on that...

Ok confirmed block is 98tm and heads are cific aftermarket heads... anyone have experience with cific
