If , I could ever get my hands on a full 4 door ranger . I would turn many heads in the US. That would be cool .

there sold in mexico, not sure about the rules for importing them into the states, but the reason they weren't sold here is cause the cabs got very poor safety rating.

Yeah they are only sold in mexico or well actually pretty much everywhere else except for north america. You would have to go through mountains of paperwork to get one imported not to mention the fees involved and stuff. But if your interested and have the knowhow you might find this thread interesting....

He made his own 4 door out of a regular cab and the back section of an explorer. Its a really neat build.

Don't even think about doing it. It will never happen. When I was stationed in Coronado (San Diego), California back in the 80's I went across the border to Mexico and tried several times to buy a new VW bug that they still made then. They were really neat little cars since I owned VW bugs for years. But the chance to buy a brand new one based on the late 60's and 70' series was so captivating to me. I had to have one. I rented several the many times I went into Mexico and really liked the new bug.
I could never get one across the border I was told. I went to see if I could purchase one at a dealership and the police were called in to explain why I could not take one across the border to the USA. Man!!! I felt like I was a drug runner the way I was treated. I tried several times again but it was a o go. The USA will not let them into America and the same with the Ranger Supercab....no way!!!!!

Rules have changed since the 80's. You might be able to get one in you just have to be sure its US emissions compliant to todays standards.

It's not actually a 4 door but it is about the same room as a crew cab, just no extra doors. I think what he did was really good work and it worked well for him, but I personally would still want the extra doors. And maybe a diesel engine in it as well while we're dreaming.

I know it's been said before. It will probably be said again.

If you want a 4-door Ranger, in the US, they do (did) make them. They were called the SPORT TRAC.

Good point, I forgot about that momentarily.

Oh right, I was reading this thread as he was making it and I thought he mentioned something about putting in the explorer door, apparent;y he just painted on a window. :icon_rofl: Well it could be a 4dr.

WINNAR!

Its the SAME FREAKING THING :icon_rofl:

I bet you could convert the front clip to a ranger VERY easily if you want the appearance, I'm sure the only reason it hasn't been done before is because Sport-Tracs retain their value fairly well so people don't wanna mess them up.

since you cant drive in the whole car, i wonder if you can goto a mexican wrecking yard and pull the cab and bed off a 4 door ranger and take it back to the us.

or just flatbed it.

Not really. The A-pillars are a big issue too. They don't pass our crash tests. The VIN will raise flags when you go to register it.
