hey guys! what makes a ranger edge and edge? badging and skidplates? my im respraying my truck after i do my SAS and wanted to EDGE IT! just wanted to know what the difference was between and XLT STX EDGE i have the XLT

I know that the 2wd edges have the same front suspension as the 4x4s just with out the front drive line. They ride a little higher I guess. I dont know much more than that.

yeah, metalmacg has got it half right... The Ranger EDGE pkg (you don't want to know about the Edge SUV, I hope), has rubber flooring, and no map pockets on the doors. I think the STX's are about the same, I've never seen them out here, except for F-150's. Oh yeah, and the EDGE pckg also has an 8.8, 4:10 (28 spline?) rear axle, again mine doesn't have an LSD, but I've heard that alot of the EDGE's do... I'd say you're better off with what you already got, maybe aspire to FX4-it.

EDGE is most known for the rubber floor and color matched bumpers. they also have torsion bars. they come with 8.8, i have seen 4.10 and 3.55 limited slip diffs. i have seen them with map pockets though. the new STXs are just xlts with a mazda bed and lowrider style valance. badging is just and EDGE stick and the ranger emblem just says ranger, no xl or xlt under it. no skid plates, that was only FX4s

xlt are coil sprung unless 4wd.

The Edge had a different front clip. (Color matched bumpers, honey comb grill, different hood) The suspension and wheels like what was already said, bed rail caps, Edge Badging,
and the rubber floor, witch I miss. Oh and not all Edges had the 8.8 axle. My Automatic 2wd had a open 7.5 with 3.73 gears.

Looks like the only things missed were, the color matched fender flairs, white face gauges, and the Tremor stereo option.

They did come with mid and aft skid plates, and the bed rail caps ended in 03.

:clapping: Alright, good team effort!

I think a lot depends on what years you are going to compare the Edge to the STX and XLT. What might have been special for one model ends up being standard on the next year's. Thru out the years, it seems that it's the lowered stance and different front valance that sets the STX apart. The Edge got the torson bar suspension no matter what the drive train was. Rear end depended on the motor and if two wheel or four. My '05' STX has the rubber floor mats but has the high back seats with the body color matching inserts and a carbon fiber dash and grab handles on the 'A' piller like what you would find on a 4x4. My '05' XLT 4x4 has the honey comb grill that used to be found on the Edge. Best bet is to swap the parts and paint it to suit what you want it to look like.
