So I was holding high RPMs down the parkways trying to turn those 33's.

Right before I get off, my truck starts dropping power. If I punched it, the engine would go higher RPMs but the tranny wouldn't click in and go...

Check engine light came on, as I was loosing speed, but still running
Then right away the CHeck Gauge light came on... so I turned off the truck and coasted to the side...

Now the water temp got a tad high but not enough to redline, I believe it to be the oil pressure guage that dropped....

Now the truck cranks but dont start --> sounds like timing chain but if that broke, the truck woulda stalled, before I turned it off...

Soooo... I'm thinking a coil pack or something??? any help is appretiated!

had spark in 2 of the plugs... btw but i didnt check all 6

my did the exact same but the only time it would have spark it sometimes then shut off. i checked the tfi part and got it tested and turned out good. then i figured i would check the coil pack and a wire came out off the connector so it was getting a horriable conection. so i wasted 2 days firguring out that the problems was right in front of me. just went to the junk yard and cut the connector on about 8 inches back and it worked out for me. i upgraded to a msd one for 40 and it seems to idle better. good luck.

YAY..It started today, but it sounded Super rough at idle..... smoke pouring out the exhaust.....

i went down the road and i had no power to get up to speed...took forever to hit 20...

diff not using all the pistons.... should I buy a new coil pack????

btw.. the OBDII scanner didn't pick up any codes

I'm wondering if the Cam Syncro Gear is the problem??? Like I said, possible oil pressure drop. ANY THOUGHTS???

Yep.. I would say that is the problem.. Lady I work with had the same issue... I checked it out and found the Cam Syncro to be the problem... She has a 1999 3.0...

When you start it up does the oil pressure gauge respond? If the syncro shaft failed you would lose oil pressure and have other fuel/spark problems. If the shaft did fail would not register any oil pressure as the bottom of the shaft turns the oil pump.........
