I took my Ranger to my local Ford dealer today for the cruise control recall. I thought they would
replace the switch, but all they did was add a "fused" wiring harness:

It is Ford's way of the cheaper fix. If the sensor every does short and may cause a fire, the fuse will blow to help prevent this. A blown fuse will also indicate that the sensor has gone bad. Besides, not all vehicles will have the issue. Just a very select few that could give Ford a bad rep.

I'm glad I have an ants eye view of it now.

I had to slide my chair back a few feet to see it.

Yeah, all your pix are too big. I rarely look at them. Birds and flowers aren't my thing anyway. And in this case, my 96 got the same fix, so I already knew about it. shady

I think everything must be bigger in North Carolina, not Texas.

The only vehicles i have replaced switches on so far were the marquis, town cars, and crown vics. Everything else just gets the harness.

This is the 2nd recall for this issue. The first time around, the Ford engineers put the fuse on the wrong side of the circuit. The current harness now has 2 fuses.

The switch is a normally closed switch, so a fuse in either side should blow if it develops a current path to ground.

We only replace the switch if it shows signs of leaking. If theres no signs of the switch leaking then it gets a jumper harness.

I had the recall done on my F-250, it looked like someone took a handful of wires, bundled them up, taped them with black tape and attached it to the switch. Yours looks professional Bob, comapred to how mine looked.

What's with all the photo haters?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

I don't hate the photos, however I am extremely jealous of his photographic skills! Sure wish I could take pics that looked that good. :no2:

GEEEEZ, that was intelligent!!! How do you know they are ALL too big, if you rarely look at them???:haha::haha::haha:
Well, I know I am not as intelligent as you THINK you are, but I'm trying. It doesn't take a mental giant to see that the pix are too damn big for this forum. Evidently YOU aren't able to see this. All we need on this board is another kiaah. shady

Hey, I'm not the engineer. Tell it to Ford.
