Ok, its like this. Ive been posting up threads in the towing section to figure out what I should do about towing upgrades and well I came up with this conclusion. I want to swap in a ranger 8.8. Either the 28 spline or the 31 spline. Either one would be great.:woot: I have a 7.5 axle and dont really trust it to hold up through the abuse I put it through. I looked at the tech libary and looked at the explore 8.8 swap but that seems to be out of my skill level and thus decided to go with the ranger swap.

Ok, to the question I have. Is the ranger 8.8 a direct swap in, or is there any additional work needed? I read the ranger 8.8 swap but, it doesnt say weather it is a direct swap.:dntknw:

mine was bolt in when i did it. im not sure about the drive shaft length, i also lifted my truck 4" and did a v8 swap with a full size trans. at the same time so i had to get a new one made anyways

I feel the same way about my ranger build(a little inexperienced) but I kinda just decided to do it anyway. Im getting a shop to do the welding and gears and stuff but Ima try and throw the 8.8 in myself. Good luck to ya.
