I have a 1990 XLT Supercab 2.9L 4wd with 3.73's and a 7.5 open rear
If I get a 1990-92 Ranger 8.8 (28 spline) is it a direct replacement, or do I need to change the driveshaft flange?

Direct bolt in operation

i just finished this and with two guys we did it in 2 hours... easy easy swap

If your driveshaft flange is the 3" variety (between mounting bolts), like said, direct swap.
I think the earlier 1990 trucks used the 2.5" flange however. These would need to be swapped (simple operation). Check for this and if needed just get a flange at the same time you get the axle.

thanks guys. I actually havent procured the axle yet, I just told two different shops (one in Utah and one in Wyoming) to look for one.
