Ok I am in the process of purchasing an 85 F-250 with 351C. I am taking the Engine, Tranny, t-case, and both axles and putting them under my 88 Ranger. Im aware of some clearance issues with the engine, but does anyone know how much more lift if any the F-250 springs will have over the stock ranger suspension. I cant find much about people swapping drivetrains or I suck at finding articles. Does anyone know how much of a pain the crossmembers from the ranger will be in attatching them to the F-250 tranny and drivetrain? Any ideas, suggestions, or comments would be appreciated. Im currently in Iraq, so i have PLENTY of research time. Thanks

If that 85 has a 351C, then it was planted there by someone other than Ford.

HMMM, I wonder who did then, the guy im getting it from sent me pics and its got a 351C in it. I looked on cardomain and noticed all the trucks like this have the L6. What the hell? Thanks a lot man.

If it's a 351 and it's factory....it's a windsor.

Not all were 300-6's there were 302's, 351W's, 460, and 6.9 Diesel.

I dont know, cuz the radiator hose goes into the block and not the intake, maybe im wrong. The picture is really crappy. As well as the guy posting the truck cant type for the life of him. Lemme show u the pic and maybe you can help me figure out the deal. Thanks man. Here is the link

It states right in the ad. "Motor, 351 Windsor"

The pictures were a bit fuzzy fer my old eyes, but I am sure someone else can tell by looking.

Ok cool, thanks a lot man. I dont normally deal with the f-series trucks, just rangers. I appreciate your help. I love this site, ive learned a lot from it since my buddy showed me this site. Thanks again.

It's a windsor, but it's got the H.O.air cleaner, so is in fact it is a H.O you will be very happy with the way it runs.

Even though it's an 86 HO 351, the only thing that's diffferent from any other 351W is the 4 bbl intake and Holley carb. Good for a donor, but really nothing special that would command a premuim price tag. The 351C was never installed in trucks by Ford. There were 351M's installed from 77 to 82, but although its in the Cleveland engine family, it's not a true 351C. It is in fact a destroked 400 which has a taller deck block than a 351C.

don't do it

.. But the truck itself has alots of issue to be fix.. ..
Are these axle issues?
Are these engine misfire issues
Are these transfer case won't stay engaged issues?
Seems like it's a candidate for the junk yard.
Does he REALLY have the title?
Offer him around $350-400 for it.
If he say no, walk away.
The axles won't fit under the ranger.

Someone post a pic of a Ranger with full size axles.

true, plus the cleveland motors had a small block bellhousing pattern, the modified/midland (whichever you prefer) had a big block bellhousing patten.

I found a better truck, its got the winsdor and its a 5spd man trans. Yeah the other truck was a windsor, I compared it to another pic on the web and it made it look like, what i thought was a Cleveland. It was, actually a windsor. Does anyone have any feed back on the f-250 leaf springs connected to the ranger frame?

If it's an F250, it'll have leaf sprung TTB. You DON'T want to bother swapping that into a ranger.....You want to swap in solid axles, from either a 70's truck or bronco or a 80+ F350.
