hey all! 1989 ford ranger with the 2.9. 75000 miles. Ive had this truck for ab out 3 months now and have noticed a ticking noise that has progressively gotten worse. to myself it seems the noise is coming from the drivers side, up high on the motor. it mostly does it when under a load, above 1000 rpm. put my stethoscope on each injector and there is a NOTICABLE difference when going from the back 4 to the front 2. could a injector be making this much noise?

It is to do with one of the lifter. I do not know why. But it is just a 2.9 thing. I would not worry about it. I ran one like that threw high school an a few years after that. Till I swapped in a 4.0
