So lately, past month or so I've had some issues with my truck.

2003 Ford Edge 3.0 2wd Auto. 109k miles.
Tranny fluid is showing plenty but starting to look dark so I will be changing it this weekend as well as the differential fluid...

On to the problems..

At first going from park to reverse, the shifter would make the movement but it was almost like the trans wasn't fully going in, like it was almost still in park. After a few tries I was ok... then it happened going from R to D... I was in drive but not completely... took a few tries of going from P to D and it worked...

Truck shifts fine and smooth once in gear. Then today, I had a little trouble leaving work getting into drive... got into reverse fine, but wouldnt go into drive... again a few tries and I got in... so I'm driving for about 25 minutes and going about 10mph it makes a clunk noise and pops out of drive... almost like I was in park... reverse was ok (as I had to reverse 200 feet into a parking lot)... as I was in drive and stuck, I gave it more gas and it almost felt like it was halfway in drive, like I was driving with the E-brake on... I only did that for about 5 feet... got back into drive after a bit an made it home...

No check engine or weird lights coming on.

I've been searching and reading about some shifterlock or something... could it be the valve body?? Any tips/advice/links or used/new part links would be amazing.

I'm really hoping it's not the trans, I'm trying to fix this for under $500

Thank you in advance!

My guess would be the transmission module. You need to get the trans scanned by the dealer or a transmission shop.

Will be doing that tomorrow... although I had a dumb moment... I was checking the trans fluid with the car off... when I turn the car on and check the stick shows barely any trans fluid at all... I added some to ensure I can drive it to the dealer tomorrow. I'll keep you all updated!

Well I took it in to my buddy who is a mechanic at a Ford dealer and we hooked up the trans fluid machine and so far she is running great. There was not very much fluid in there, I'll keep you posted if the problem comes back!

What a noob move.
