Random Rev / starting problem

The problem started out with the truck reving on occasion. I could leave it running and walk away from the truck and it'll rev for just a second then stop. Doesn't do it very consistently very random.

The second problem has been it not starting. Nine times out of ten it'll start right up and runs fine. Occassionally out on the trails if we stop for a break then I'll got to start the truck and it cranks fine, but won't start. Has fuel pressure, but no spark. Let it sit then eventually it'll start up.

Any suggestions on where to start diagnosing? Thanks for any suggestions.

man ive got an 01 thats doing the same thing. im inspecting and changing my plugs wires ect this weekend. mine hard starts every 30 or so times i start it and revs up to 1500 and holds for a few seconds sometimes at random. get back to me if you figure it out before me im gonna do a little tinkering this weekend

Fooled around with mine tonight. Went through checking all my sensors with a meter and they all seem ok. Pulled spark plugs and they looked great. vacuum hoses looked good. Even checked the eec and no codes were thrown. I'm out of ideas.
