Now i have a stock truck. It is 4x4 and i would like to keep it stock with in reason, i.e. put new bumpers, 285/75R16 with twisting the torsion bars if needed. My random question is this what toys are truely needed? winch, (don't do hardcore wheeling) better lighting (daily driver) I guess what I am asking is where is the best place to spend my less the huge amount of fun money on the truck and keep it a working kids truck?:dntknw:

start with the tires and TB crank, go wheeling (with some friends) and figure out what you need by experiance. if you do night wheeling you will want lights, if not then there is not much use for them. if your truck isnt capable of doing what you want, start my making it more capable, whether is more aggressive tires, a couple inches more lift, whatever. just get out there and have fun. make a list of what you need and why you need it. then spend the money.

for a winch that works in a pinch, get a come along.

for a young persons truck i wouldnot do anything that leaves it down more than a day, go wheeling a few times, trust me you dont need a winch yet. you may find the need to get better tires, throw some explorer leafs in for some added height, maybe some coil spring spacers, then go have fun, thats all you need to start out with.....

hi-lift jack. lift, clamp, winch, its a lot of tools in one. plus some recovery equipment (good strap, leather gloves, d-rings), because no matter what you do to your truck, you're going to get stuck eventually.

If you wheel at night or travel any backroads, a couple Hella 500's would be nice. Mount them on your front bumper. You can find them on ebay for like $60-70 shipped for two lights and wiring kit. Good Lights and not too expensive. I'd agree start with some bigger tires, and crank those bars. Then find out what you want/need. :icon_thumby:

What's TRULY needed?

Good tow points and a buddy.

That's ALL.

If you must self-extract (and it isn't recommended), it can be done with a Hi-Lift or come-along. Very slowly, but without the winch. Note there are some places you can't (or shouldn't) use winches, like a few feet deep in a river.

Frankly, you're a kid. Spend your money on other things. Preferably things with boobs.

Right on, but i spend ALL my money on my cars, i really don't have the time or the MONEY(if you know what im talking about) to be with a girl right now

well not actually a kid, but i damn near have budget like one. my thing is i do want my truck to be stock for the most part cause it my everything truck.

just to clear a point up, i am not current on the newer things on the market. did most of my wheeling in military trucks. again not a kid, maybe act like one once in awhile... anyway just looking for things to improve the lil' grey, thanks for your input...

To answer your question....
QUALITY 285/75's like BFG A/T's or M/T's
Torsion Twist
Class III rear hitch (if it doesn't have the factory unit) so you can put a tow hook in the rear
Silverstar or Nighthawk headlight bulbs
Tow strap with loops not hooks
Rear limited-slip or Powertrax No-Slip (if it doesn't have the factory unit)

The above will do you just fine.

Mo' money....
Front Powertrax No-Slip
