Random Factory hole in dash

in the right hand side of my dashboard toward the front is a hole that looks to be pre cut from the factory dose anyone have a clue why this is there:icon_confused:
 
Our trucks have a couple of factory holes that don't need to be there because they share a dash with the Explorer. The hole on the rt. side of the trim panel up by the windshield is for a sun sensor and the little grille between the radio bezel and the airbag is for an interior temp sensor used on the automatic temp control in the Explorer.
