i have a 96 ranger supercab 4x4. i was wondering if i put rancho 5000 on if there is anything else i should get to help out with them.. like blocks or something to help with the lift... or is just the shocks ok.

Nope that's all you need, just the shocks! I got the same shocks on my 94 4x4 super cab and I love um!

shocks wont lift your truck if thats what youre asking. the rancho 5000s are hydraulicly filled instead of gas charged, so youll get a "different" ride out of them. if youre looking to lift your truck you will need either lift blocks or extended shackles for the rear and a lift kit (longer brackets for your front axle and radius arms to bolt onto). once you install the lift pieces you then need to get longer shocks capable of working with the new amount of suspension travel (rs 5000s or equivalent).
