ok so i have a 97 ranger and when i bought it the passenger side radius arm bushing was in 2 pieces so i replaced but i noticed its starting to crack and get so worn out u can see light through it. ive been told this is due to heat from the exhaust causing it to wear faster. does anyone know a way around this?

There is a heat shield available for those. Let me see if I can find you the part number...

MOOG Part # K8729

Advance Auto has it for $4.50. I suspect most other stores carry it as well.

ok thanks. when i changed the other on there was somthing on there but most of it was missing i guess that was the heat shield haha whoops

No problem. I found them a few months back when I noticed the damage to the bushing on my Explorer. I hardly ever drive it these days so it still needs to be replaced. Not sure whether the part was installed at the factory or came out much later as a repair item. It's not on my Ranger or Explorer.

i see. well the first time i changed it the guy i bought the truck from beat it to death and the crossmember was ovaled about an inch from the radius arm hitting it i had to remake alot of it to get it round again

Moog sells replacement radius arm crossmembers due to that problem. When the bushings go bad and the owner fails to replace them they damage the crossmember over time.

ya... the first time i had to replace about an inch and a half of metal the first time i did it. i didnt kno about the replacement crossmember. we'll see how my repair help up and if its bad i'll buy a crossmember i guess
