ok, this is the second time i had to type this up so bear with me. i broke the radius arm stud on the passenger side top when i was installing my lift coils, so i ordered the studs from ford. well since i had to tear the axle apart anyways i might as well extend my radius arms:D:icon_welder:i had to buy some more tools like a quality slide hammer axle pulling kit, but i got my axleshafts pulled tonight:yahoo::icon_hornsup:

my problem however are the bolts that hold the radius arms on the bottom of the axle housing, the nuts are welded on the inside of the housing and the bolt protruding from the top of it show no threads anymore, completely rusted smooth, there is no budging these, i had a 3/4'' breaker bar on them with a 6ft cheater bar and there was no budging these, in fact i shattered an impact socket on them tonight, i lost a good friend when that socket cracked into 4 different pieces, i broke loose all kinds of stuff with that socket, i have had it since i was 10, my grandpa had it when he was a tool and die maker back in the day..

so what are my options here? do i torch them off? how do i go about it? i know i can weld a grade 8 nut there and be fine, but i cant get the torch inside the axle tube to get at the nut...any tips out there?

mine were stuck pretty good too so i took my torch and heated up the threaded nut inside the tubes and the studs came right out. i also noticed the all the threads above the nut that holds the coil spring in were rusted off smooth.

These bolts are loctited from the factory. Add that to the years of rust and they become like one with the nut. Heat works best....

heat up the nut on the inside...get a big breaker bar with a 4' pipe on it and she will come loose

btw...use a craftsman braker bar and socket...so if they do break you get new ones

I had the same problem, MAPP gas torch for about 5-10 seconds. They come out like butter!
