Radio Troubles

I have a 95 Ranger Xlt with stock radio/tape and it has been working fine until a few days ago when it just stopped working the lights and clock still work and tapes still eject but it will not play anything or even turn on. Any ideas about what the problem could be?

short, or bad head unit? its almost always easier, better and cheaper to get an aftermarket radio.
