I have 2) 1989 BII's the donor BII's radio needs to go into the good BII's dash. I thought this would be a snap as I have switched radios in the past. The good radio has 2 rectangular plugs on the back. The dead radio has 1 rectangular plug that matches the good radio & one square plug that does not. Here's the poop:

The wiring in the good BII is different than the donor BII but it is factory. Photos below.

This radio is dead. It turns on & the volume goes up & that is all.

Here is the back of the dead radio. 2 plugs, the right one is square & has a factory cable going to it and it is for the speakers. The left plug is rectangular & for the power as far as I can tell. Let me know if I am wrong.

Here is the rear of that radio. 2 rectangular plugs.

And last is the dash of the good BII with the bad radio plugged into it. I had not seen a cable like this going to a BII radio until now.

The bad radio has the following codes on it; E9SF-19B165-BC.

The square plug in wire in the dash of the good BII has this sticker on it;
E97B 14588 BB. DATE CODE 0149.

Is there an adapter for the square plug?

Is this square plug the speaker plug?

Looking for an easy, low cost fix..

Thanks...

did you try just plugging in the one cable plug and see what happens? i'd try that before getting deep into adapters, etc.
even getting an exact replacement at the local jy shouldn't cost more than $10-20. that would be way cheaper than trying to find or custom make an adapter.
also, you might try to find a schematic here on the web of the radio and speaker system that will give you some answers.
good luck.

looks like the dead stereo had premium sound and the donor truck did not.

The good radio works but has no sound when the right plug is pluged into the BII. Which leads me to believe that the square plug is for the speakers.

I'll be looking at the junk yard this week..

Thanks...

Did a little research & it's a premium sound system. The other radio wasn't.

Looks like I'll drop in a newer radio I took out of a car that went to the bone yard as they are the exact same size..

So now to find the amp which is listed as somewhere under the dash. Not sure I'f I'll have to bypass it or not. Depends on the wattage of the new radio...

I'd bypass it If you have aftermarket speakers. If not then just leave it alone
