Radar Detector

My radar detector is starting to act up and i think I may need to get a new one.. It has been a long time since I have purchased one (at least 7 years). What should I be looking for? What is the new technology with them? What are the good brands? Is it possible to get something decent for $50-$75.

i didn't think they still used radar. thought they switched to some sort of laser. idk. if they did, save your money 'cause you can't beat the speed of light.

This is the kinda stuff I am lookng for. Thanks. So do radar detctors with laser not work very well? Like I said I have been out of the loop on these for over 7 years

My current detector still works and has saved me a couple times but it has been flipping out lately so figured I should look into getting something new.

Not in a huge hurry to buy since I only have used it in my other car (which I don't really drive in bad weather or rain) and have not used it in the truck since I bought the truck a year ago.

Like the O.P., I don't like to keep my speed down to keep the lower percentile of the population happy. I'm quite capable of judging a safe and reasonable speed. If you don't think that the general population is capable of thinking for themselves, then you better re-think your government and how you elect them.

I'm also looking for info on radar/laser detectors.

I found it interesting that according to one study that radar detector owners are 28% LESS likely to be in an accident.

Lmao i think people are starting to get a little out of hand with this

And weird... the wiki page says that radar detectors are legal where i live... I am pretty sure i remember being told that they cant be used here. Something like we are allowed them in the car, but cannot have them plugged in and operational lol. I think further investigation is needed

So back to the radar selection talk... Which ones are generally "better"? And wouldnt advancements eventually (if its not already there) get to the point where it is not traceable?
