race day

so you set her up to do wheelies.. so lets see some lol

it'll be dragged out of it's hidey hole about mid june-i usually give myself a couple weeks before the race to prep it.need to do some mods to make it steer better(steer brakes)because the course we run is shaped like a big w(3 180 turns).while this was made to put on a show more than win,it is a little frustrating not being able to get around the turns.by the time i get going on it i hope to have figured out how to poste video(i just got the pic thing)so there will be action shots.

mines not balanced quite that tail heavy, you need power to get the wheels up and they come down fast when you back out,but the steering he has is what i'm after.got it planned out,be doing it soon.:icon_confused:

not a very good pic but this is my stock b2 on the race course,it's a '90 with the 2.9 d28 7.5 and 215 tires.only mod is the top chop(gotta have that)and a thorough beating.the muffler fell off,so i guess it's got a modified exhaust too.:icon_thumby:

thats.......interesting fo sho but just put a bar up front and when you want it to steer a bit better just pack some weights on it and hide it in the engine compartment

for steering i'm putting differential brakes on the rear operated by the steering box-will have photos and vid once i get around to doing it-but times running out!

so it's two weeks tomorrow till the race day,so i figured i should drag it out of it's hole.poured a bit of gas down the carb and tossed in a good battery and it fired right up(gotta love 460's)but it needs a tuneup and some other work before it's ready for use again,so i have to find time between the jobs and other projects to get it ready.first,i have to clean last year's mud and all the tree pieces off.:headbang:

carb001.jpg
i got the distributer cleaned up,cleaned and gapped the plugs, and hosed the mud off.it runs great, pulls 6500 rpm no problem, but has had a stumble when stomping on it off idle since putting it together 3 years ago.i figure the carter carb on it was not giving it enouigh fuel when opened up suddenly, and the holly 750 always worked good on the ranger-so it's swap time.it's too late to test it tonight(got neibours, and this thing is loud)so i might try it tomorrow.one of my regular customers is taking me out fishing tomorrow,so i'll see how it goes after that.:icon_thumby:

what are the fender flares off of?? i always wondered if the more rounded style flares would look any good on a 1st or 2nd gen truck....

oh and i really like the idea of rear brakes being controlled by the steering box... whats the specs on that??
