Im sure this has been asked before but I haven't found a thread that clearly asked or answered the question. I have a 95 ranger with a 4 cyl and an M5od-r1, I am swapping in a 302 with an R2 but had to go with an older tranny not the 4.2 tranny with the better shifter location. Is it possible in anyway to use the shifter cover from the R1 on my R2? Can I swap the components over? Or better yet is there any chance it will just drop on? I don't want to bust up the paint on my R2 if there's no chance its going to work, but Id also rather not have to cut the floor and mod the shifter if I dont have to either.

Thanks for any help.

Not your R2.

You MAY be able to swap the guts from a F-150 R2 onto your R1 but I am not aware of anyone doing this.

If you look in Twisters B2 V8 swap thread he ran into this between V8 transmixers. He got a R1 for a song and thought he would just swap on a R2 cover. The R2 had thick aluminum shift forks vs the R1's thinner steel forks so it wouldn't just drop in.

So you would have to swap the forks in the tower and shift collars in the trans and hope nothing else was changed.

If anyone has a later model shift cover laying around they would want to get rid of please let me know. I have only found 1 on ebay and I did not find any here. I need to keep my costs down on the truck until the VA processes my disability so I have some extra money coming in.:annoyed:

Wait a minute... Something isn't right here...
My broken fork from my R1 is aluminum. Is that statement backwards?

I have a spare R1 cover, with a broken 1-2 fork. Or do you indeed need the R2 cover?

You aren't aware of it because it has not been done, and it has not been done because it cannot be done.

The R2 Case is both longer and wider as is the shifter top cover.

Won't fit, because frankly the Ranger M5OD-R1 is a "7/8 scale model" of an F-150 M5OD-R2 everything is different.

The only common parts are things like Detent balls, shifter tower bushings and bolts.
