My Ranger has a trans cooler wire-tied to the front of the radiator. Has anyone pulled the pump, fan-clutch and fan, as an assembly, without removing the radiator?

You need to pull the fan clutch off water pump first, there is no other option, even with radiator out
So no reason to pull radiator unless you are replacing it

You can rent fan clutch wrenches to do that or the set usually costs about $25 for the 2 pieces

Or you can use a strap wrench on pulley and a 1-7/16" (47mm) wrench for the nut

A blunt ended chisel on an air hammer is what I use to remove the fan nut. Haven't busted a knuckle yet. LOL

Nope, you can get them out together. It isn't easy, but it is possible.

The fan clutch in my B2 failed letting it overheat at extended idle, and that nut was hopelessly stuck. I removed them together by taking the radiator out and sticking a long extension through the grill. After I got it out I tried more things to get them apart because the water pump was still good, even with the torch and the air chisel I had no luck.
