I looked everywhere i could think of and can't find out if ford made a 98-09 ranger with a manual steering rack. If it is in tech in sorry I didn't find it.

They did not.

Its a good question right. I dont know either.

FYI........I installed a manual steering box in my '89 when my P/S box & pump failed --(rebuilt but no adjustment left in bearings or screw/then pump went bad/hoses leaked).....but now I have a bad case of bump-steer----which means that hitting a deep pothole will cause the front end of the truck to jump a foot or more left or right....

Definately would NOT advise going manual in an off-road vehicle!!!!!!!!

which means that I'll be getting a good quality steering stabilizer this week!

But I'm still glad that I went manual...freed up a few more h.p......and my upper body needs the exercise ;missingteeth;

Great thought. Ev should definately be manual rack. No off road for me. I want to eliminate engine drag, weight, and extra crap in the bay. My front tires are 5 1/2" wide. I have run a power rack without the pump but a true manual rack will turn easier.

I can't find any info on the EV Ranger. It may have had an electric assist rack though.

Why not set it up like a racecar...?
Fabricate mounts to fit a Mustang II, or Pinto rack. Then you have the option of different ratios too. The one pictured is narrowed, in our lasted build.

The classes I usually run want stock suspension so I can't tube the front. It is a "budget" build for street strip. I may adapt to a mustang rack if the width is similar or just loop the line and run without a pump. Should be light enough with ft runners to turn pretty easy.

What about a small 12v hydraulic pump?

Can't see it being as powerful as the engine driven pump, yet it'd be better over looping the line.

I found that Aerostar made a manual rack. I just need to see one to see if it will fit. A lot of the Aerostar parts work on our trucks.
