I just took back my valucraft rotors the other day and paid the little extra to get Duralast...seems to happen with everything valucraft that I buy. Anyway, my point is, I put the duralast on last week and i'm not having the shake I was having before when braking. Now, when I apply the brakes and I start to slow down to come to a stop they squeel really loud, worse than when I had the valucraft rotors. Should I take back the pads I have on there now and spend the little extra for "better" pads? I've almost got all the damn noises out of the truck and this ones really bugging me.

did you clean the rotors with brake cleaner before you installed them?

and all autozone pads are garbage.

Did you install caliper grease? They shouldn't be squealing that bad.

Yep, I just went and got some Duralast Gold pads...if these don't work, i'm getting motorcraft pads. I usually have good luck with duralast. lol. And yes I cleaned them before I installed them...

BTW, Valucraft and Duralast are the same parts... you're paying for the extra warranty with Duralast, but the actual part is the same.

No...not really...the duralast pads were larger and I don't have the noise anymore. worth the extra money...also, when I did the drums on my truck last year, I bought valucraft drums and they would NOT fit over the shoes. I said screw it, I paid the extra for the duralast drums, and they fit. If they are the same, then why didn't they fit? FYI, they matched every set of valucraft drums and matched them to my original drums and the valucraft were always too small, only the duralast fit.

I've had AZ give me wrong parts even though they wrote down the friggen parts on a piece of paper when they went back to pull them. AZ's web site doesn't even list a Valucraft drum for your truck...

Call your local store. 99 Ranger 4x4 3.0 Flex with 10 inch drums. Ask if they have the valucraft . I just looked on the website aswell and it only shows duralast.

FYI: the 10 inch drum is the tow package drum.......If you have a factory receiver hitch, pig tail and trans cooler, you should also have the BIG 10 INCH drum...........

Are you sure? I have the pig tail and a trans cooler on the passenger by the valance but no receiver hitch :icon_confused: The some' b!tch must of took it off!:annoyed:

I use that spray CRC Disc Brake Quiet stuff. It's like sticky red paint for the pad backing so that the pads don't vibrate against the caliper (which is what produces the squeal). Just shoot the pads with some brake clean, let dry, shoot with brake quiet, let tack up for about 10-15 minutes (depending on temp and humidity) and install. Once the stuff tacks up, it gets really sticky, so don't drop the pads. If you get it on something that you didn't want it on, brake clean takes it right off. I've also heard about using wheel bearing grease for the same problem, but I don't like the idea of grease being so close to my rotor surface in an area that gets hot like brakes.
