Quick Question - Bolt Size

The bolt that connects the axle beams to the drop bracketry, anyone know the size? looks to be about 1/2" dia, 6" or so long...

But, anyone know the specs on it?

Just get the strongest bolt you possibly can, you can never get one thats too strong, but if you get one thats too weak your f***ed
 
Its probably metric... I know my 88 is about half Metric, half standard. I think that was right in the middle of the 'switch.' If you can snag a spare take that to the hardware store.
 
I never go to the hardware store if the bolt is going to cause a wreck of it fails. i go to a heavy equipment dealer. (Caterpiller usually has what I need.)

your half right, grade 8 bolts shear off easier (because they are so hard) than grade 5. i cant think of a good senerio to use grade 5 as opposed to grade 8 but there are times you should.

I think parts of my frame would shear off before Grade8's would! :)

if ur going to a cat dealer
see if you can get lawson super bolts
my dad gets them at work(when he worked in the shop)(quarry)
and if you gan brake one of them ur magic
