When measuring caster to see how far down to make the mount, can I just jack up the beam to 1" lower than the pivot bolt or do I actually have to get vehicle sitting at right height?

Right now I have the front sitting on jack stands but it's sitting higher than the rear.

Anybody? I really need to know so I can finish the mounts.

Thanks
Steve

You can do it that way, sure. The pivots 1" higher than the wheel hubs is ideally where your ride height should be anyway. The camber/caster bushings will still allow for a proper alignment it if it's plus/minus an inch from that though.

My front is sitting 4" higher or do you mean something else?

The ride height (relating to the pivots vs. wheel hubs) doesn't change if you have a lift on it (if that's what you're asking).

Edit I think I see what you're asking... The truck needs to be more or less level to the ground (or how you intend to be driving it, say with a slight rake to it, etc.) when you measure for your caster, otherwise whatever angle the truck is at can end up included in your caster angle measurement.

Yes, that's what I ment i guess I sucked at explaining it. LoL

Ok, I'll need to lower the jack stands then.

Thanks
Steve
