I need to run a line of RG6 cable. I have a spool of cable for when I renovated the house, but at that time, I did the ends wrong. So, after you use a cutter to cut the sheathing off, what do I do with the foil and/or braided wire? Do I remove the foil/braided wire, fold it back or leave it alone? TW ended up replacing nearly all the cable ends and I forgot what the guy told me about it. Thanx

it will depend on what kind of connector you are using. if you use the twist on quick connector, you strip a half an inch of the black insulation and peel back the braided part over the black insulation and then trim the white insulation off so that the middle wire is exposed and then twist the connector on.

If you use the crimped type, you trim back the insulation and braided part so that you have about 1/2 an inch of the center wire showing and then slide the ferule onto the cable and insert the conector in between the braided wire and white insulation and then crimp the ferule down (some connectors have the ferule attached so all you have to do is insert it and crimp it.

Just remember that you want about 1/2 an inch of the center wire exposed when you have the connector on.
