ok sooo im doing the swap the only thing im wondering about is the mounts ive been reading and i have both set ups a have the 4.0 mounts and the mustang conv mounts so i can go either way, its not a dd so i just wanna do whatever is over all best and easy for header clearnce (although i just might use the stock manifolds) not really on a budget but wouldnt mind useing the cheapest headers out there. the engine is out of a 89 mustan and a so its got the rear sump pan and tranny is a c-6 out of a bronco, so my question is what combo mounts and headers should i go with? thanks for all your help

I used the DUFF mounts(mustang con.) I also run the Hedman shortie headers(JEGS). I also run the C-6. One thing to watch out for is starter clearance. I tried using a early year starter(big) and it would short out on the header. I use a mid 90's starter out of a F-150(smaller)and either wrap it with header wrap or make a heatshield. Otherwise it will cook down there and you will go through them fast

so the mustang mounts would be the way to go? well igot the starter for bronco and the mustang so ill go with smaller out of the 2? or if there the same size go with the f-150 whats the part number for the headers u used? as for electrical it looks easy! i hope this all gos well it seems to me that the 5.0 will get same gas milage if not better as for the tranny mount i read u can just cut the stock mount and move it up to the first bolt hole and it fits like a charm is that what u did?

starter clearance

so bloodbane with hedman hedders 89500 with c-6 you had room but just was touching the bigger starter but it would work? i got the same setup im just waiting on my hedders to see wat i messin with plz fill me in

well i bought tri-y's, mini starter, and im using a c4. im hoping that i wont have this problem

ok so if your runing into problems with the big starter then im gonna go ahead and start with the small one like blood was saying (do it right the first time) and also run witht the convert mounts, im also gonna run thoughs headers now what about the tranny mount?

the tranny mount your gonna fab up yourself prolly cuz if anyone has measurements on where to drill holes on the crossmember for the mount to mount to then im game but it would have to be the same tranny i have a c-6

Yes, the starter would hit the header and short out(actually it would stay in constant crank mode). It did work a few times though(you may have better luck than I did). I don't remember the part number for the stater, I just had the parts guy look up a starter for a mid 90's F-150 with a 302 and C-6
As far as the mount, I used a early Bronco mount that has 6" of plate welded to each side and the frame pieces flipped over(I use the Dana20 T-case, and its kind of hard to describe it). Best way to do your mount is to have the tranny in and held in place(I used a couple of ratchet straps to hold mine up) and fab the mount to work.....:icon_welder:

For my setup (351W/C-6) i used a starter from a 90 F-150 5.0/AOD

Fit perfectly. Mine is 2WD although that should'nt make a difference.

ok well i guess the bronco and mustang have the same starter as the f-150 i guess i lucked out there, as for the tranny ill think of somthing thanks for all your imput guys:icon_cheers:

yea i work at advance auto part number for the starter is p3205 and its 104 plus the core but thanks for all your help mines coming together if i knew how to post pics i would put mine up

dang $104 at kragens its only $54 one more question is headers a must of has anyone used the stock manifolds?

Won't have stater problems with the C-4. The C-6 is much larger.
